I am waiting on a date for my PIP appeal and I'm just wondering if anyone on here has gone through this process and either won the appeal or lost the appeal. It's taking ages to get a date and I'd like to hear from anyone who's actually gone through the process who can tell me what it's like please

Hi Mumpsy.
I recently went through a PIP tribunal. Mine was done via video and it took months to get to that stage.
I don't want to put you off by telling you my experience but, let's just say, I wasn't successful.
I had 3 on the panel, a doctor, the judge and a disabilities expert. All of them were men and I found it really humiliating having to go into details about personal issues.
I don't feel they really listened. It seemed they'd already made up their minds to turn me down before the tribunal began.
So many people go through this process and are successful though, so keep that in mind.
I wish you all the very best x1 -
Can I just ask if your appeal was to obtain more points ? I'm 2 points short only that's all0

Hello @me9021
Well done for going ahead with an appeal, I know PIP isn't an easy process to navigate but if you feel that your conditions warrant enough PIP points for an award you are doing the right thing.
Do you have anyone supporting you with the appeal? If not, I'd encourage you to let someone else take some of that pressure off by getting in touch with a welfare representative who can guide you through this. You can find someone via the Advice Local website (entering your postcode and selecting 'Welfare benefits' from the drop down list, then scrolling to the bottom of the following screen).
Whilst, good outcomes do happen - I believe the majority of PIP decisions are overturned at tribunal so please don't lose heart. I'm sorry this wasn't the case for you @teezee
Wishing you lots of luck, please keep us posted with how you get on.0 -
Best of luck @me9021 hopefully you'll hear more soon enough! Keep us updated when you can0

@Mumpsy and @me9021Good luck both of you with your appeals.
I have went through 2 appeals the first in 2018 f2f and found I was treated fairly and with compassion, I also went through a telephone appeal in 2020 and found that went as good as my first one.
I won both appeals I just wanted to let yous know my experience and hope it helps ease your fears.
Take care ❤️1 -
It's a tough one to figure out, 23% of Mandatory Considerations are successful, where as 73% of Appeals at Hearing are successful.
