I just received PIP award for my daughter.
She was awarded enhanced(highest?) rate for both care and mobility.
She was on lowest on DLA and yet she now receives LESS.
How is this happening????
DLA was : £714 a month
PIP is now: £680 a month
It's not much but it makes a difference to my hand to mouth existence!
Thanks

Those figures make no sense. If her DLA award was low rate care and low rate mobility it wouldn't have been £714. It would have been £195.60 every 4 weeks.
Even if she was receiving high rate for both, it would not have been that much. It's also paid every 4 weeks, not monthly. If she was receiving high rate for both it would have been £627.60 every 4 weeks.
    DLA rates are as follows.

    Care component

    Care component Weekly rate
    Lowest £24.45
    Middle £61.85
    Highest £92.40

    Mobility component

    Mobility component Weekly rate
    Lower £24.45
    Higher £64.50
For PIP there's no lower rate. It's either Standard or Enhanced. For Enhanced for both parts it's £627.60 every 4 weeks. This will increase to £691 every 4 weeks once the benefits increase next month.

You've got your figures wrong some where. You're receiving a lot more with her PIP than you were with her DLA.

Heer mobility was lower with DLA. She was getting the amounts stated above. Lower mobility is now enhanced in PIP...
    Weird

DWP DLA every month was  £467.40
    DWP EESAevery month £247.60

And now is PIP enhanced rate living costs per week £101.75
    Enhanced Mobility per week £71

You've added the ESA and DLA together which is how you came to the amount you did £714.
Her PIP amount every 4 weeks will be more than her DLA was, so she won't be any worse off, she will be better off. I don't understand what's weird about it.

OOOHHHHH I don't understand what all these payments are!
I've only recently taken over this side of things and not familiar with any of it. I assume her ESA will be reduced but as long as she is not worse off - I can relax.
Thank you for your replies and apologies for my less than eloquent replies. I'm multi tasking and not good at it at all! 😂

Her ESA will not be reduced, benefits increase by 10.1% from next month so she will actually receive more ESA.
Does she live alone or with other adults? If she lives with other adults do any of them claim a qualifying disability benefit such as PIP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or are they registered blind?

Do you claim a disability benefit yourself?

No I don't but am on Universal Credit. I was told after 3 applications to PIP that I'm automatically denied as I am functioning well enough to be a carer.
    Thank you

Honey I think youre doing just fine! Youre on here looking for advice and I bet you havent had a shower or a decent meal....xx MUltitasking is a lie from the patriarchy and this **** is endless. You're supporting your child, you're already doing the work of three people.
Give yourself a break, (side note, maybe everyone could relay information a little more gently, too. xx) We are all in the same boat. Doing our best. You shouldnt have to be good at admin to be a good parent, its a stupid system. But you ARE doing great! Youre doing it! All the best. xx

What an absolute load of rubbish. Who on earth told you this? One guess, either the DWP or a Tribunal??
Caring covers many activities. Someone who is physically disabled can be a carer if they provide emotional support.
Between my wife and I we care for each other, I'm physically reasonably fit but mentally poor. She is physically poor but good from a mental health position. I receive both Enhanced Care & Mobility PIP and she receives Attendance Allowance at the night and day rate. Where one of us is lacking the other helps out.

I'm pleased you've commented @2oldcodgers - as your comment is helpful, thank you, & I also missed @HaliJo 's comment yesterday. It's good to see you're also supportive HaliJo, but I query why you felt you had to say
.....(side note, maybe everyone could relay information a little more gently, too. xx) We are all in the same boat.
Only poppy had by then replied, asking questions in order to help rigavitch the better. She is also in the same boat, another disabled person, who voluntarily gives an awful lot of her time daily in giving members benefits advice. Benefits can be a minefield, so we are lucky to have such a member who has literally helped thousands of other members. Think how you'd feel, if all you try & do is help, but apparently you haven't done it 'gently' enough....
May I politely suggest you get to know members, & the help & support they give, before making such comments, thank you.

Hi there @rigavitch and thanks for reaching out, I hope you're feeling supported by the community :) Benefits can be a bit of minefield can't they?

It's important to mindful that in an online space communication can sometimes be quite tricky, and easy to misinterpret for everyone!

Sometimes clear and concise information along with gentle phrasing would be a good response for someone who may be feel stressed or overwhelmed. Other times, a different response does just the same job. It all depends on how that person posting is feeling, and I don't think any personal judgement is meant.
