PIP lump-sum

Can anyone tell me if a large lump-sum payment owed from PIP (due to a law change) affects other benefits? Or future benefits?
I did ask and he said no it won't because there was a change in law.
But I just wanted to double check.
Also, do I have to spend it in a certain time?
Any help much appreciated

Hello @THAAWT.
Backdated payments and lump sums from 'official error' usually have a disregard period. I believe the amount impacts whether that period is for 52 weeks or for the life of your current benefit claim.
Have you been able to find out any more?1 -
No i haven't , thank you for your reply. I was hoping there would be some information when I received the updated award letter but there wasn't.
Do you know what the amount is for the 52 weeks please?0 -
Hello again @THAAWT. From information on MoneyHelper and Scope's information on Lump sum payments, I believe it is usually 52 weeks for under £5000 and where benefits have been underpaid because of an official error or on a point of law, any payments over £5,000 can usually be disregarded for the length of the claim or until the award ends. But please do double check with any income-related benefits you receive.
