My PIP payment has reduced from £369.60 to £290.40 (pending due to be paid on the 3rd). This is a reduction of £19.80 a week.
Is anyone else experiencing a decrease in their regular PIP payment?
My sincere apologies the very long post! I have tried to call DWP but they are closed on weekends i will try on monday, but knowing DWP phone line it will take a few days or weeks to get an answer.
Can anyone help explain this? Im very worried now that i will lose my Motability car.
I had an online re-assessment a few months back for PIP, and my disability has worsened since my last review so I’m baffled why my PIP benefit has been reduced, i am very worried that i have been taken off Enhanced rate for Mobility. If so i will lose my car which has been adapted for my conditions and it will have severe impact on my life.
I had text message on 20th Feb which stated,
“About your PIP review. The health professional has sent us their report.
“About your PIP review. The health professional has sent us their report.
We will make a decision on your PIP, but it may take 6 weeks before you hear from us.
You will continue to get PIP while your award is being reviewed.
You only need to contact us if your circumstances change.” It’s 6 weeks forward now and I have not received an assessment report in the post, only letter yesterday stating my rates have increased as shown below.
So I’m confused why the payment is less, surely it should be more? New and old amounts ??
“Your current total weekly amount is £156.90.
The rates of PIP have been looked at and the amounts have changed.
Your new total weekly amount is £172.75 from 10 April 2023.
How this amount is made up
The new daily living amount is £101.75.
The new mobility amount is £71.00.
We may pay you less than your weekly amount if your payment is affected by other benefits, for example; you have a Motability agreement or you are paying money back to us.
The first payment covering the 10 April 2023 could be made up of New and old amounts”
The new rates are shown below and nothing adds up, I cannot see why £290.40 is the new amount? This is a reduction of £19.80 a week.

- Higher rate: £101.75, up from £92.40
- Lower rate: £68.10, up from £61.85

- Middle: £68.10, up from £61.85
- Lowest: £26.90, up from £24.45
Mobility Component
- Higher: £71.00, up from £64.50
- Lower: £26.90, up from £24.45

I'm sorry I can't shed light on this. I have a similar question. I received the same worded letter apart from the amounts that you have on yours. I get Standard daily living. They paid me on the 11 April 2023.It was a few pence more than my usual amount. I assume the part in the letter that states your money could be made up of the old rate and the new rate has something to do with this, although it's weird your money has gone down, and odd that I received a few pence above my old rate amount. Could it be something to do with being paid in arrears, (if it is) I'm baffled and hoping to find an answer on here somewhere.0

Hi again. I've just searched Scope and found out the money is paid in arrears. I think your money will balance out next month when the increase takes effect. Hope that helps a little.0
