hi, I was granted full pip at my tribunal however the judge set the date of when the backdated payment should be from and not the date from when I made the claim, which meant I lost out of 6months of back payments, is this normal?

    Hi Jasmine75888

    Welcome to Scope Online

Loads info and nice people on site.

I think it should be backdated to the date of the claim. was a reason given?

I would call the DWP to ask why.

    Hello @Jasmine75888

Welcome to the community! :) Just to let you know, I popped your post into our PIP, DLA and AA section of the forum in case you had any other questions or queries. I would also echo contacting the DWP to ask why.

The tribunal said it should be backdated 3 months before I put in for a appeal, the tribunal reason was that my disability was gradual, but by the time I had applied for pip I was already in a bad way

When you start a claim for PIP you must have had the difficulties for at least 3 months. If this wasn't the case when you started your claim then this is why you weren't owed money from the date you rang to start your claim. Not starting your claim for 6 months after you rang to start your claim doesn't really make sense. If it was 3 months then i would understand why.
You will need to contact HMCTS because DWP will not pay what maybe owed unless the error is corrected.

That’s what I was told, I wouldn’t mind as I didn’t even knew about pip until my support worker helped me make a application at that point I was denied pip, so again with the help of my support worker we asked for a reconsideration and at that point I was given the basic pip but no mobility elements, so we went to the tribunal, with my support worker attendance over a phone call, the tribunal only took 25 minutes when they said that I would be granted full pip on both elements but then said the backdate will only go back three months prior to the date I logged a tribunal hearing. I’m so confused and was only told by a friend that it should have been backdated to the application of pip. Now I don’t understand what has happened, every arrival states that the backdated payment should have started from the date I put in for pip. And now as it’s been over 6 months since the tribunal it seems I can’t do anything about it.
