DLA or Attendance allowance

My auntie is 93 years of age and has dementia ( since 2017) and is housebound. Her husband was recently advised to claim attendance allowance for her by a social worker.
However the family has since found out that she has been in receipt of DLA for at least 20 years, way before the dementia diagnosis.
She receives higher rate mobility and lower rate daily living. I think that she maybe would qualify for higher rate daily living as she has carers coming in 4 times a day to look after her.
My question is should we request a change of circumstances on DLA to try and obtain higher rate daily living or does this mean a fresh claim for attendance Allowance?.
Thanks

She should not claim AA because it has no mobility part like DLA does. I believe she can report changes for her DLA claim but for high rate care then she will need to constantly need help during the day or night. (regardless of whether the help is given or not)Before reporting changes i would advise you to speak to an advice agency near you. https://advicelocal.uk/welfare-benefits

Thanks Poppy, I never knew that about attendance allowance, I thought it had the same categories as Pip/dla.
Will try and get some advice for them locally1
