8 weeks and still nothing

8 weeks of waiting and still no decision. Are these 12 weeks the limit in which I will receive decision or can it take even longer? I don't want to call, ask, rush DWP. But I am wondering...
This waiting is so stressful 🥺
Is there anyone here who have been waiting for a decision for more than 3 months after the assessment ?
Thank you in advance.

Timescales are just a guide, it could be less or more. Some have a decision within a couple of weeks, so wait a lot longer. I totally understand how stressful it is waiting but there's nothing more you can do for now. Try to focus on something else while you wait.

Hi @Blue_eyes, yes I’m eight weeks and still waiting, it’s very frustrating , I do feel that this could be made simpler somehow, understandably that paperwork has its own timeframe within the DWP but surely a phone call to say yay or nay to someone doesn’t take this long , they could say you are entitled and it will be upto 12 weeks before you see your entitlement. I feel this could definitely be done , oh well we will just sit and hopefully wait for the good news when it arrives.
stay blessed all, Chris0 -

Hi @poppy123456, my suggestion was very simply explained in the essence that , whoever makes the decision could do it far sooner with a phone call . Then the paper work that follows with the process could be sent at a later date. I just believe it would alleviate the worry / upset/ frustration that people encounter with these procedures. They surely could do this quicker Poppy ? It doesn’t take upto the suggested 12 weeks as stated to tell someone yes or no with “paperwork alone”. My comments had nothing whatsoever to do with getting the advice of “upto 12 weeks” as really no one knows , it’s just an opinion I have that a phone call from a decision maker doesn’t need to take upto this suggested 12 week timeframe ?? The paper work could arrive anytime thereafter once the call has been made?.

Your suggestion makes no sense. They can't tell you anything until a decisions been made. If it's a first time claim then they have been known to send a text if successfully awarded.

Poppy , you are totally misunderstanding what I’m saying, the point that was made was people’s wait for decisions on PIP, you with me so far? Sooooooo, I said wouldn’t it be easier if once they have made a decision either way on the individual’s application then they could give a telephone call to said individual, then they can print all relevant correspondence off to make it formal in writing to said individual/s be it a yes or no, to help people from stressing needlessly for a longer time than what they are. Furthermore I also said surely it doesn’t take a DM 12 weeks to make this decision? You can surely bet that if you receive your entitlement notification through the post via letter then they have known your outcome a good couple of weeks . So Poppy I firmly believe I am making sense . Oh well looks like it’s time to leave this whole forum , I’m not honestly coming on here to be told I make no sense , surely we all have an opinion , anyway stay blessed all and I hope everyone has the positive outcomes you all wish for. Chris

Hi @chrisofa - I've followed this discussion with interest, & 'sort of' got where you were coming from. Unfortunately it seems that a decision maker just has to get through a pile of paperwork due to backlogs, & eventually gets to an individual claimants assessment report & all other evidence sent in. Obviously it doesn't take a decision maker 12 weeks to come to a decision, but this wait causes so many people weeks of anxiety, & we all wish it wasn't so.Your suggestion is helpful, & I think many would appreciate a phone call saying about their decision rather than waiting a little longer for a letter, but who would want to be on the receiving end of a very upset claimant if they weren't successful? This is mere speculation on my part, however. There presumably is a reason why this doesn't happen....Hope you don't leave the forum over this; take a little time to get to know us all is all I ask.0

Chrisofa, I’m not misunderstanding you at all. I never said you or anyone else isn't allowed to have an opinion, everyone is entitled to this, myself included. This doesn’t mean we have to agree with someone else’s opinions.
I have to agree with @chiarieds here, i wouldn't want a phone call telling me that i've been refused PIP, for me this would be worse than just receiving a decision letter. You're also forgetting the people that can't use the phone and we have quite alot of members here that can't. For them a phone call could send them into even more of a panic because they'll likely not be able to answer the phone and then they'll be worrying why they were called. This will then lead to threads asking why they were called.I'm not great talking on the phone but will if i have to. If my phone rings and i don't recognise the number, very often i won't answer and usually think if it's important they will leave a message.First time claims are usually sent a text if they are successfully awarded, if you gave a mobile number when you claimed. So this ticks one of your suggestions. Even this text doesn't stop their anxiety because this comes with questions like... how long will it be before i receive the money i'm owed, when will i receive the decision letter.. I rang the automated line and i was told i'll receive X amount on X date but i applied 5 months ago, surely that doesn't include the money i'm owed..Now the waiting times for decisons. We say up to 12 weeks, some have a decision in as little as 2 weeks, others 4 weeks and some much longer. You said "surely it doesn't take a decision maker 12 weeks to make a decision" in some cases yes it can. The decision maker has a pile of claimants files on their desks to go through and not just 1 persons claim. Some will be more complex than others, there maybe inconsistencies in the assessment report so the health assessment providers need to be contacted. Sometimes reports are returned back to the health assessment providers because of issues with the report. All those things and more cause delays with decisions. They send text updates, which were likely started to try to stop people ringing for updates but it didn't work. People still post asking questions like.. i received a text today saying a decision hasn't yet been made, what does this mean, or is this normal.Im sorry you’ve decided to leave the forum because of a disagreement in opinions.
