PIP

I have recently applied for PIP. DWP sent a text message on Friday acknowledging that they have received the form and yesterday (Monday) another text to say it's already been passed on to assessment stage. Is this normal?

    Yes, perfectly normal.

There’s quite a few different texts they send as updates and all of them mean exactly what they say.

I’m  not disputing that the texts mean exactly what they say I’m just trying to understand, I’m a fairly intelligent woman and there’s nothing out there that informs us as DWP users (for want of a better expression) the navigational map, it’s very chaotic-I like to mentally visualise the road I’m on, as do a lot of people who suffer from  anxiety and from what I can tell there’s no rhyme or reason…………how can they penalise us for not following and understanding, how can they tell us the onus is on us to know the rules (that exact phrase was used in a letter to me) when no one can tell us why.

What exactly is it that you’re trying to understand? When applying for PIP they very often send updates through a text message, if you give them a mobile number. It’s really that simple.

The ABC……normally there’s a process, A to B. B to C and so on, for a government agency it’s normally predictable and uniform in responses you ask for something you get a copy and paste answer-if they’re sending text messages out at each stop on the application process why isn’t it the exact same journey for everyone?

Why can’t you see someone ask a question about a text and go ahhhhh I know where you are, this and this will happen next!

We all know that you ring up, pip sending a text thanking you for ringing and says the paperwork will be with you shortly (same for everyone) then the paperwork comes and you have 4 weeks to fill in (same for everyone) you send it back and they send a text saying they've received your forms (same for everyone) then it goes haywire! Texts are different, someone doesn’t get the text!

You keep saying 12 weeks until a decision but all my paperwork/texts say 8-which is ir?

You really are making this out to be more than what it is.

Not everyone receives all of the texts. Some won’t receive any of them.

Yes, they tell everyone 8 weeks but in reality it’s anything up to 12 weeks after the report was returned. To be honest there’s not really any timescales because every claim is different.

Thank you for that constructive criticism, it’s been really informative……I’m sorry my confusion on their protocol has you at such a loss.

Hello @missphant .This 6-8 weeks I would take with a pinch of salt. I am still waiting for a decision (after receiving only one text and one letter after the phone assess)...13th week after assessment, and 11th week after report was returned.

And I think that is a really ignorant reply to a member who spends hours on this forum freely posting and giving advice, I am sorry you're not satisfied by that.

@bg844 Really? In what way is it ignorant? This is my 3rd encounter with this person responding and I’ve never been rude, obnoxious or ignorant! Although they've responded they’ve never actually been able to answer my questions regarding these messages, I’ve explained as clearly and concisely as I can that the actual message isn’t the confusion it’s the order and timing that is confusing me-they actually told me I was making  the importance of the texts way more than I should.

I was politely trying to tell this person that it’s been proven they cannot answer my question despite phrasing it several different ways and explaining my thought process in detail………please tell me why I’m ignorant?

I haven't answered your questions because there's no answer to give you. I did advise that some receive the texts and some don't. There's no guarantee who does and who doesn't or who receives which text message. If i answered it in any other way then i'd be lying and i won't be doing that.
