PIP Tribunal questions

Hi Everyone, I applied for a PIP tribunal back in January 2023 and have just submitted some further evidence from my latest hospital appointment. Does anyone know if you should get confirmation that the new evidence has been received and also does the new evidence just go to the tribunal or does it also go to DWP? Would be grateful if anyone can advise. Many thanks.

I don't know if you'll receive notification that they've received it. HMCTS will send DWP a copy of the new evidence.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know how if DWP ever change their original decision based on new evidence?0
-
Yes it has been know but it's rare for them to do this. Have DWP given their response yet?

No not yet. I wasn’t too sure if they would. Thanks so much for your reply x0

Before they respond they will look at all your evidence again. Sometimes they ring to offer an award at this stage but not always. My advice is to expect to have to attend the hearing either in person or phone call/video, assuming that's what you've chosen. Paper based hearings have a very very low success rate.

Thanks Poppy. I’m thinking the same to be honest I’m expecting to go to tribunal. I opted for in person or phone/video.0

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to give a quick update. I had my tribunal today and was awarded standard daily living 11 points and enhanced mobility 12 points. This was from my original decision by DWP of 5 points daily living and 0 mobility. The process was daunting but the result far out ways that. From start of my claim to my tribunal today has taken 58 weeks. Obviously this will differ for other areas of the country. If you are thinking of not appealing as I was, you have absolutely nothing to lose and an awful lot you could gain so stick with it. I almost gave up a few times! Many thanks to those on this forum whose advice and experience has been invaluable.Best wishes to everyone going through the same process x2 -

Hi Sean, I had pretty similar experience. After 2 minutes of what was supposed to be a video assessment the link failed so it was basically a telephone one. Yet the assessor described my complexion, eye contact made, if I was trembling/shaking etc also referred a lot to my cognitive state when it was visual impairment and how that impacts my day to day life I was applying for but DWP still upheld their decision. Luckily the tribunal panel actually listened to how my problems affected me and overturned their decision indefinitely. Good luck with yours and don’t give up hope 😊0
