Hello and welcome @paulgolds thanks for your post :) I've just moved it into our travel and transport category so it's easier for others to share their thoughts.

Just so that I understand fully, you'd like to change your current Motability car, which is an MG HS?

Have you been in touch with Motability to see what might be available to lease next if you're still eligible, or is it that you're looking to change cars before the end of your current lease?

Personally I would never have bought or leased any Chinese knock off cars. They are what they are absolute rubbish.
I don't know anyone that has one is happy with them especially the electric versions.
No idea what Motability would do you have to contact them.
Gone have the days of 'proper' 'decent' 'well built' cars being available on the Motability site - BMW, Mercedes, Volvo etc.
I've just taken delivery of a Mazda CX5 with an advance deposit of £3500.
It's OK for what it is - very old school with very little power or performance. The build is also OK but where they managed to find the leather goodness knows. It is hard and reminds me of the leather cloth of the old Morris 1000.
    Best of luck

You will need to contact motability. As you haven't had your car for very long i don't know if they will agree to you returning it to order a replacement. Whist your vehicle is in the dealers for repairs you can make arrangements to have a courtesy car. If your dealer can't arrange this then motability will, providing it's not just at the dealers for a short time. (few hours)

Hello and welcome! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your Motability car's stop-start system. I would recommend contacting your Motability dealer to discuss your options for changing the vehicle. They will be able to advise you on the best course of action and any potential costs involved. It's important to remember that any changes to the vehicle must be approved by Motability, so it's best to work with your dealer to find a solution that meets your needs.

Many modern cars have problems with the stop/start system.

One way to keep the emissions within the very tight regulations nowadays is not to 'waste' engine power on battery charging.  So the battery gets charged just enough to keep things ticking over, but never gets a proper charge.

This is fine for people doing lots of miles, but often means that low mileage drivers find things like stop start don't work, and heavy electrical consumers such as heated screens and seats, or keyless entry, are temporarily stopped from working until the car gets a longer drive and a bit more charge.

I just wanted to make you aware of this as changing to another new car may just mean you end up with the same problem.  If living arrangement and personal mobility allow, you can get a battery Smart charger to plug in to the mains, maybe once a month, to keep the car battery well charged if you only do fairly low mileage.
