Hi, My child gets DLA and is awarded until 2025 but i received a letter in march with a telephone appointment on to discuss if they are getting the right amount of DLA, They said there name was pulled out at random….. has this happened to anyone one else? They said the benefit could change, if there needs have, never had this before.

Yes, they do sometimes do random checks like this. They sometimes do the same for those claiming PIP. They are checking that the award is correct.

Thank for replying, i feeling happier now, my child has got worse and has had some new diagnosis since the claim started and i know you have to tell them if there is a change in circumstance but it never entered my mind to let them know, i would have if they had got any better, just never thought about letting them know they are worse….0

A worsening of condition doesn’t automatically entitle them to a higher award. DLA isn’t awarded based on a diagnosis.0

Hi, i understand that, i was just worried as i didn't tell them at the time, which was over a year ago.0
