Hi, I’ve just been awarded lcwra, could anyone tell me is this a separate payment from universal credit, also can my partner still claim carers allowance for looking after me.

LCWRA is part of UC and will increase your maximum UC entitlement by £390.06/month. When it's paid from exactly will depend on what date you reported your health condition/sent your first fit note and what date you usually receive your money each month. For your husband to claim carers allowance you must be claiming either daily living PIP, DLA mid./high rate care or daily living part of Adult Disability Payment. Claiming carers allowance means it will just be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. If he's working and earning more than £139/week he won't be able to claim it.Carers element of UC has no earnings limit so if you're claiming a qualifying disability benefit then he can claim this, providing he looks after you for at least 35 hours per week. He can report a change of circumstances on his journal and report being your carer. Your UC will then increase by a further £185.86/month.0
