Hi, my name is abhireddy010!
Dear all,
My name is Abhilash, and I am writing to share my story with you. I am a right-hand amputee from India, and I have faced many challenges as a disabled person in my community.
Growing up, I encountered many toxic attitudes from people who believed that my disability was a punishment for some past misdeed. Despite this, I have always tried to maintain a positive outlook and focus on the things that I am good at. When I lost my hand, for example, I taught myself to write with my legs. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Technology and even secured a job at an MNC company.
However, despite my hard work and determination, I have faced discrimination and unequal treatment in the workplace. I have noticed that my co-workers receive better appraisals and promotions than I do, and when I asked about this, I was told that disabled people deserve less. This statement really broke me down. I have always worked harder than most people to complete my daily chores and succeed at work, but I am still paid less.
As a disabled person, I have feelings too. I feel hurt when people say bad things about me, and I want to be financially independent and have a family like anyone else. I also want my parents to be proud of me, instead of feeling burdened by my disability.
I am reaching out to the SCOPE community to ask for your help in achieving these goals. I want to be independent and fulfilled, and I believe that with your support, I can do this. I would appreciate any advice, resources, or connections that you can offer.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Abhilash

Hello and welcome to the community @abhireddy010 and thank you for being so open and sharing your story with us You're certainly in facing the barriers you face as a disabled person, and it takes courage to talk about what you've been through, so well done.
I hope the community can act as a support for you, and it sounds like you've been doing amazing work with your studies. It would be helpful to know, are you currently based in the UK?
You might like to visit our Work and Employment category to chat with others or ask about workplace discrimination support. Disabled people are not lesser, and are not a burden. I'm sorry that you've been told this and were made to feel this way.
Please do ask if we can help with anything further0
