Does PIP count towards private rental allowance?

Hello!
I have several health conditions and am privately renting at the moment with my lease ending soon. I am trying to work full time but may be having to cut my hours due to my health. I am also wanting to move back to my home town after a relationship breakdown to get more support and care from friends and family. But rent is so expensive now that even if I was getting paid the full amount for my current role for full time hours, I would struggle to find somewhere suitable. I don't need many adaptions to a home as it is mainly having somewhere ground floor as I use a cane a lot.
I already receive the higher daily living component for PIP. Am I able to use this towards my rental costs when I'm applying for rent?

You can use your PIP money for anything you want to.For help with any rent you will need to claim Universal Credit. Whether there’s any entitlement will depend on your circumstances. If you live with a partner you’ll need to claim as a couple. Use a benefits calculator to check entitlement. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you’re excluded from claiming.

Hello @TwitchAndMore
Welcome to the community! I see Poppy has answered your query. I'm sorry to hear you have to move because of a relationship breakdown, but glad that you want to move closer to support from friends and family. Shelter has lots of advice regarding council housing lists, private renting and paying rent, should you have any other questions or queries0
