Hello @colindog and welcome, thanks for your question.
Can I ask what you mean by: 'a new certificate of entitlement', do you mean his PIP letter?0 -
Husband gets his car tax paid ,as on PIP,he has changed his car and wants to tax new one.its seems we need a new form to take to Post office to do this, please could you help him find a contact to do so at present he is stuck as can't use new car as can't tax it,many thanks0

Assuming he has Enhanced Mobility award then he will need to contact PIP to ask them to send one to him.

Thanks for clarifying that Poppy, best of luck calling the PIP enquiry line @colindog, you'll need to ask them for a new one once you get through.

Hi,thankyou for your help, after 90 minutes spoke to an advisor who will now post a new form out. He will have to ring every year for a new form to tax his vehicle as they do not automatically send them out.many thanks0
-
You don't need to ring every year. You only need a new statement of entitlement if you change your vehicle.

Sorry but the advisor said we had to ring every year for a new certificate with the details on that my husband was still claiming PIP, we did double check this, she said it was a new policy, regards

There's no new policy. You can use the same certificate of entitlement when renewing your vehicle tax. You only need a new certificate if you're changing the vehicle. This because when you change the vehicle the V5C will need to be changed to disabled class. When renewing the tax the V5C will already be "disabled class." This is why they don't send out certificate of entitlement each year. When you ring PIP please be aware that you're speaking to someone from a call centre who's likely to have very little knowledge of the benefits system or about Tax a vehicle. You can see the requirements here. The following was taken from the above link.If your certificate has been lost or stolen you will need to replace it.You will also need to get a new certificate if either the registered keeper or the vehicle changes.
