LCWRA Reassment?

Hello, I was awarded LCWRA almost 12 months ago and have been told I'm due for reassessment. I've read many comments here saying the reassessments are currently suspended?

Who said you have to be reassessed?

LCWRA is an ongoing award until a new decision says otherwise. As you've read on many other threads, as far as i'm aware they are still suspended. The timescales they give are nothing more than a guide.

When it's time for your review you'll receive a letter on your journal (if you have access to one) telling you they are referring you. You will then receive the form in the post shortly after that.

I had a missed call from UC, I logged into my journal to find a message asking for permission to speak to my doctor regarding my health condition, I asked why and was told that my LCWRA was awarded for 14 months and it was due for review.

Yeah it seems they have started them up, at least for me, now I have to go through this nerve-wrecking process again  :'(

It's not awarded for 14 months though because it's an ongoing award. It has no end date.

Yes I know, it's a 'guide'. Well it seems for me they have used the guide of 14 months to the day and initiated a WCA as soon as it reached the 14 months. So yes LCWCA reviews are started again it seems.

They don't usually contact anyone in this way before a referral is made. When it's time for your review they will need to refer you for another work capability assessment. Once they do this you will recieve a letter on your journal to tell you and you'll then receive the forms in the post shortly after that.

Hi , no I haven’t been sent a reassessment form yet , but it seems they have started up for some people so I’m expecting a form any day now 😬

If it's UC you're claiming then as i advised you will know when it's time for your review because of my advice here.

You won't just receive the form without them doing this. Even if they have started (and i'm not convinced) there will be backlogs anyway so it doesn't mean you'll receive the form any day now.

Given the pressures in Primary Care (Trying to get a GP appointment round here is long drawn out or even impossible) I'm not sure GPs have anywhere near the time to speak for 10 minutes or so to any "UC" type person or other health professionals linked with them. If you get an UC50 form that would be newsworthy though.

    Thanks poppy .
I’m always looking at the worst case scenario so in my mind I’ll be receiving the form in the next few weeks , I hope not and I hope to be left alone until sand if year early next year .
Also I checked my UC payments and I’ve got the increase with my payment this week , an extra £69 :)

I agree it is quite stressful at the thought of more reviews. I try my hardest not to think about them. Glad you have the extra in your payment this week too. My daughter will also see her extra amount this month.

Does the info about all this go on the .gov site under benefits?   I guess we will find out this week.

If you’re referring to WCA reviews then no there will not be any information about those on the website. Find out what this week?

I've also had had this message today on my journal, about contacting my GP- they didn't try to call as they've stated.

My last WCA was October 2018 with a review date of October 2020, I know for sure that was deferred to October 2022, after that I didn't bother contacting them for the date on the system (and yes I know it's only ever a guide).

I also get NS ESA and I can't recall if UC asked for my GP information when I applied.

I will phone them tomorrow with the information requested.

But I'm generally assuming this a pre cursor to the formal reassessment process starting.

WCA decision letters do not have end dates because it's an ongoing award until a new decision says otherwise. You can ask what your expected review date it but it's just a guide and nothing more.

It's definitely not the formal reassessment process. Usually for a review they will need to refer you first and when they do this they should put a letter on your journal telling you that you're being referred. You will then receive the WCA form in the post shortly after that.

As you're claiming NsESA as well then your review will be done through UC and not ESA.

They very rarely contact a GP for anything. I'm wondering if it's another one of those "rules" they seem to have made up themselves.

Would be really strange for them to stop disability element just by talking to your GP but from the wording of the message on the journal it seems that’s what they are saying.

It’s probably another way of cutting corners and saves them sending out the UC50 and then having to send you for a reassessment.

Speaking  to your GP and then deciding if you’re still eligible is really terrible.

I thought eligibility couldn’t be stopped until you were assessed?
It's not a shortcut or anything, i've been sent UC50 forms to fill in again and referred for another assessment. It's a whole new WCA assessment. For some reason DWP ask for permission to speak to your doctor more than once. But yes I am being reviewed, I went through this whole process less than 12 months ago, i feel really hard done by considering people on here have been without assessment for several years now
