For the past 20 years, I have had rheumatoid arthritis (RA), fibromyalgia, and osteoarthritis along with other health conditions. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user, although currently have no wheelchair. Although, I have them I struggle using walking sticks as these cause additional pain so I am looking for a power wheelchair. I have mobility but I get crippled up when I am on my feet for long periods and exhausted which knocks me out for days, hence the reason for the power wheelchair.
I like IT and volunteer tech adviser/trainer for AbilityNet's free service, which helps older people and people with disabilities when they have problems with or using their computers or other digital devices. (Currently on sabbatical)
I have been using computers for over 30 years and built a couple for myself so I have learnt a few things, I know a lot but am not an expert.
I worked in construction for a long time as a carpenter, surveyed, contracts manager and teacher. I have since trained in health and social care and completed a degree in health studies public health, graduating as a social scientist in 2020. Since then life has been busy, Recovered from covid, my daughter moved out, I moved home and I am just now taking a well-earned rest and looking for paid employment. Life costs and so do power wheelchairs.
I am dyslexic <- which I know how to spell, woop woop and I was diagnosed with ADHD just over a year ago and they also picked up autism which makes a lot of sense.
I streem/binge watch a lot of TV programs and movies, marvel, syfy fantasy fiction (eg. The Expance, star-trek etc) Action, some romance and other genre movies as long as they are well made.
I play computer games Minecraft and Lords of the Realm II <- and old 90s turn game, not into war games.
I follow hermiscraft on YouTube for Minecraft content, also Escape to rural France, The Chateau Diaries and How To Renovate A Chateau.

Hi @mikecd welcome to the forum. It's a nuisance isn't it having all these ailments. Have you been looking at power wheel chairs to see which one might suit you. They can be costly, but you can get reconditioned ones.
I've dropped a link you may find useful below

Look forward to seeing you posting around the forum0 -

Hi Sandy_123 Thanks for the welcome and information re-wheelchair services link. There is some interesting info on there. I was told I could expext a 2 year wait for equipment, I would look for the indepent support and get my own.
I have been to Naidext expo and the Motibility One Big Show, heading to the DisabilityExpo next in July. I was looking at a basic powerchair but talking to someone from motability charity re-my conditions they did point out I would need to consider my comfort more. Of course this means doubling my budget, which im still saving for.

Great to have you with us @Mikecd, you're very welcome here!
What sort of sci-fi TV are you watching at the moment? I've seen plenty of Trek over the years, but only managed one episode of The Expanse before all the other TV programmes I was watching got in the way, is it worth giving it another go?0 -

Thanks Adrian

Nothing much at the moment, watched the latest Marvel Comics universe, the Quantum Realm a few nights ago. I think the hype for the movie was better than the movie itself, still worth the watch though.
I've seen plenty of Trek over the years,
Picard season 1 and 3 were good, I think the idea behind season 2 with Q was to introduce the ability to make changes to the old timeline. This gives them opportunity to create new story lines, it will be interesting to see what works etc.
but only managed one episode of The Expanse - is it worth giving it another go?
Yes it's worth continuing, I have watched it a few times although like most programs some seasons are better than others.0 -
