Hi, I get Pip and I don't have a car but my husband does, we live remotely and he does all the shopping other than what delivered online. He takes me to the GP surgery and hospital for appointments etc and does not work as he is now retired. He is worried about me applying for free car tax for his car as he said if he makes a journey other than for me we invalidate the free tax? can we still claim or should we just carry on as we are now and pay for our tax.?

The rules for free tax on the car requires just that the car is used exclusively in connection with your requirements. If he uses the car for his own needs then it is not eligible for free tax.
https://www.gov.uk/financial-help-disabled/vehicles-and-transportThe vehicle must be registered in the disabled person’s name or their nominated driver’s name.
It must only be used for the disabled person’s personal needs. It cannot be used by the nominated driver for their own personal use.0 -
