Good evening all hope youve been enjoyingthe beautiful weather. 🌞
I have a question to ask.
My husband after waiting 16 months, has finally had his review assessment (May 2023) .
He received a text message today (08 June 2023) saying
'They have made a decision and to wait for the letter of doom...' lol
But...
Has anyone received another text saying about being awarding pip after a renewal?
Or is that award text just for new claims?
He's getting anxious and stressed as he's been in the Unknown for far to long, he's had numerous breakdowns about this renewal. It's such an horrible experience to go through.
Thank you for your help 😊

Texts for awards are for new claims only. They are not sent for reviews. This text is a new text being sent in the last few days for reviews and a few members have received it. It doesn't mean anything other than what it says.

Hi Poppy. I Just wondered if they continued using them for renewals.
Now the waiting process begins again.
I've found this discussion group very helpful, I've been on and off viewing Q&A for some time.
Thank you for your reply 😊0 -

You are the first person to report an award text for a review. 2 weeks ago they started sending texts to say "you're review is complete and you will receive the decision letter within the next 2 weeks"

Lisa33 and jackgui - did you get your award letters yet?0

Right now very much stressed last Monday had text saying we’ve not made decision on claim then Thursday letter arrived saying don’t need anymore info to make decision but had no face to face or phone call this a good sign ?0
-
aww - so sorry you are stressed philevan77 - really sorry 😞. The truth is none of us can tell if it’s a good sign or not sorry . I’m an old timer at this game - been unable to work and claimed for pip, esa , d.l.a for many many years - had tribunals , face to face , phone call interviews and all sorts , but even with my years of being in the system i cant predict what it means . I am sorry and i really understand how stressful this is . Hang on in there and try to do some interesting things to take your mind off the waiting . The worrying wont change or help you - watch a movie , go for a walk , connect with mates - anything - i know it’s not easy . I wish you well x0

Hi, yes my husband got his award... finally, its been extended for 5years at the same rate. Personally, He should have got awarded the higher amount as his condition has worsened, but what can you do, he doesn't want the added pressure of appealing. But has said if it gets any more worse, he's going to apply for change in his condition. xx

@lisa33 Glad to hear your husband got his award! I'm sorry it wasn't the higher amount. If he does want to appeal, Citizen's Advice have lots of information pages that could be useful to read0

Congrats lisa55
i don’t know what your husbands situ is but imo the fact that you got a 5 year award is the true victory here (unless you were aiming for the enhanced max length award)
if I was given the choice of enhanced for 3.5yrs or standard for 5yrs, I’d go for the longer award everytime.
these assessments and renewals totally wreck not only the claimants mental health but their loved ones too
so my advice would be if you can financially afford it stick with what you got1 -
So I’ve contacted pip today to find out what’s going on there is a 32 week backlog from when your forms are received to wait for a answer if I’m granted pip if I need a assessment that date starts again so that means that works out at middle of December I started my application in January this year this could of taken over 12 months shocked0

In a previous comment you said you received a text saying they had all the information they need. You also said that you didn't have an assessment, which indicates that you had a paper based assessment. Comment here. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/comment/707407#Comment_707407Once the report was returned a decision can take up to 12 weeks.

Did paper based assessment yes which is with a case manager I’ve had letter saying they have all the information to make a decision so I contacted pip was told that there is a 32 week backlog from time paper assessment arrived so even more wait because was told I may have to have telephone assessment0

Sorry not manager it’s with a case worker0

If it was then you need to take it with a big pinch of salt because they are known to give terrible advice. Timescales are up to 12 weeks once the report was returned.I realise it's very stressful having to wait but there's really nothing more you can do until a decision made. Try to focus on something else while you wait.Case manager/decision maker are the same thing.0
