Hi,  I've been on PIP since 2017 higher rate living and care and lower rate mobility. I recently notified them of changes to my mobility needs and sent off the review form they sent out. I've just recieved a text this morning that they have now made a decision and I will recieve a letter within 2 weeks with that decision and to contact them if my circumstances change. I'm surprised as when I spoke to them on the phone they said I might need an assessment either over the phone or at home now that I struggle to leave the house. There is no mention of an assessment, and in all honesty Ive been waiting to hear back to have that appt. Is this a good or bad sign? Has anyone had similar?

Thanks for reading

You will have had a paper based assessment. This text is a new text they've started to send for existing claims. It doesn't mean anything other than what it says.

For future reference, they no longer do home assessments and haven't since 2020.

Thanks Poppy, I'm surprised as the guy I spoke to on the phone said when we get your form back we will do an assessment over the phone or at home for you if it's easier. It's anxiety inducing having to deal with PIP and being asked questions were you feel you have to prove yourself when life is already hard enough as it is dealing with illness.

     Thanks for your input :)

If it was someone from PIP that you spoke to then that will be someone from a call centre, who have very little knowledge of the benefits system and how it works.

In my opinion, a paper based assessment isn't a bad thing.
