LCWRA - indefinite

Do you think, there will ever be an indefinite option that isn’t to far out of reach for those of us claiming UC?
Like those in esa who aren’t constantly pressured with WCA’s?
Maybe under a Labour government?
Imagine a world where we weren’t constantly picked on and looked at as parasites that are just a pain in societies side for being unwell.
Anyone think that could ever be a possibility, In the further? Is there any discussions? Just sat pondering the thought that’s all.

@raspberrysorbet66 I think there could be.
I was speaking to a friend about this the other day. I think the pandemic opened up more doors for businesses to employee people working from home and that meant more people with disabilities that wanted to work could find a way too.
But in my opinion it also added to the stigma. Not everyone can see how working from home can be difficult for many still.
I can see the need for assessments, because everyone's needs are different but they shouldn't be as daunting as they are.0 -

It's an ongoing award until a new decision is made on a future review. There's no end date to LCWRA or Support Group. There's also a group called severe conditions, which can also apply to Support Group and LCWRA. Those in this group will have no further reviews. Details here. http://data.parliament.uk/DepositedPapers/Files/DEP2019-0980/117._Severe_Conditions_v2.0.pdf

Thankyou Hannah.I’m aware of that group poppy, what I mean is, for the likes of people who have issues that have been on going for some time and won’t get better, such as fibro or mental health issues etc…. Does anyone think that maybe one day we won’t be subjected to so many WCA … maybe not indefinite but…. Every 18/24 months is just ridiculous. Wouldn’t it be nice for us to be able to get a good amount of time to just be. Without the fear of these wca… that’s what I’m getting at do you think we’ll ever get a slight reprieve?1

They have now started back for some people but not for everyone. (UC only) It's likely to be the end of the year before they start back properly for UC claimants. Once they do there's likely to be backlogs so it could be quite a considerable length of time before they get through them all.Not everyone has a review every 18/24 months. Some people have gone several years without a single review.

I’m aware. Maybe I’m not making myself clear.I’m saying, wouldn’t it be nice to know for sure, that say every 5 years for definite there would be a wca rather than waiting and worrying every 18/24 months which is really the going rate when there hasn’t been backlogs due to Covid etc.
not knowing is half the problem, waiting is the worst. And the unfair system we’re up against. I’m just saying does anybody ever think that at some point those of us who have issues will be treated fairly when it comes to wca’s?0 -
The issue with mental health issues, is that they can improve with certain medications or therapy... even in severe cases I've known people recover 10 years later after a new combo of meds..so it's unlikely they will ever be exempt from assessments. Regarding other conditions the ones likely to not cause improvement are already exempt, so I can't see anything changing. As stressful as assessments are they are a necessary part of the process1

I understood you perfectly. There's already a severe conditions group. Yes, the reviews are stressful and i'm speaking from personal experience but unfortunately they will continue.
