In a recent speech, given at a Public Speaking contest in L'Olympia Hall in Paris, Dr Jon Hastie deflected the ableist gaze, telling the crowd he didn't need their pity.
Jon who has Muscular Dystrophy, and uses a ventilator to help him breathe, told the crowd why he shouldn't be their inspiration and true success was 'striving for what you want, and adapting to whatever life throws at you'.CW: contains explicit language
