Hi I applied for pip back in March this year, had phone appointment on 27th april and she told me I should hear back in 8 weeks. I received a text stating they have all my information.
November I had breathing problems and my body ached all over every breath was painful, and ever part of my body hurt, I went to a&e and got diagnosed with pneumonia in my left lung was admitted to hospital on the 1st December for a week was realised for a week and ended up back in with blue swollen leg to which they found a blood clot in my left leg, which broke off and ended up with clots in both my lungs, I’ve been off work all the while this has happened because now i
Have thrombosis in my left leg which keeps swelling and is very painful to walk on it a lot, and only just in March got rid of the pneumonia! I’m only 35!
How long will I have to wait to hear back she did say 8 weeks they have all information on me I’ve had that text

It’s like I have 2 different legs meant for 2 different bodies a day leg that is so heavy and painful, have to have it up resting as much as I can
and have to plan things like shopping because im
so tired all the time and the constant feeling of having a breeze block tied to my foot i am fed up n would rather have my life back I found a lovely job in a nursery and am on the sick im hoping to go back because it’s the first time I’ve been happy in a job! I have to be fitted with stockings for compression therapy and am on appixiban for blood clots, im dealing with the aftermath as best I can can’t stand too long but work are guna work with me when I feel I can go back couple of hours. I used to do 20 hours a week as I’m a single mum to my 8 year old. My hospital appointments are dragging on so much I still get breathless, tired and sore

I'm so sorry to hear what you have been going through @kay87 Can I ask, with your hospital appointments, do you know who you are seeing? When I was on the waitlist for surgery after covid I called the secretary of my consultant and said I am free anytime and can come at short notice, is there a cancellation list? I was lucky and got seen quicker. Hopefully that could be some good luck for you <3

Keeping everything crossed for your PIP process! I have seen many hate the waiting around with it, if you wanted to, please join us in the Coffee Lounge :) It's where we play games, have debates and get to know each other.

I can ring the anti co-agulation team
but they can’t do anything as I had an appointment on the 5th with lung specialist and then 6th with the anti-coagulation teams but they said the wait is so long I won’t have any stocking fittings till august at the earliest as it’s a specialist I need and there’s a shortage of them as government has changed the way they check what strength I need and have merged with another department so it’s a waiting game I’ve got a lung function test on the 7th august as although eased a bit walking I do get sore and breathless.
Thank you though it’s just a long wait work have been amazing though said I can go back when I feel ready n willing to make changes to accommodate me as I love working with children n what I’m qualified to do n at 35 it’s a job that I don’t wana have to give up as it’s got a  pension and the girls are lovely it’s only 2 days a week as well first job I’ve ever had thats done that

The 8 weeks you were advised, is actually anything up to 12 weeks after the report was returned to DWP. Once a decision is made you will be contacted.

Hey thank you x they are so good! I wana go back so badly because I love my job! But think reduced hours, I work with like 18 months - 4 year olds … they are putting me on reduced duties like no lifting and there’s table top activities etc I’ve always worked n now I have to slow down but for my mental health I need to speak to others, it’s the first job I’ve picked my days and hours and my health went down hill so fast … not working effects my mental
health but my physical health is awful because iM too sore to stay on my feet all day so lots of table top activities, story times, observations on the tablets, it’s decent paying too highest in my town for the job!

@kay87 Easing back into it sounds a good idea 😊 Aww love that, they are so imaginative and pull the most lovely faces when they learn something new 🥰.

I'm so glad they are so supportive! Have you got some ideas for activities or stories you'd like to read them?

@kay87 It's great you got out for a walk! :) They are some really great ideas! I have some little ones in the family. I'm sure many with kids and grandkids will find them useful :) Summer is just round the corner!

Aww lovely yeah the paint brushes you use for house painting and a bucket of water lol 😂 paint for hours as sun will dry the water quick as well as chalk hop scotch although I’ll have to sit on a chair when I can’t stand any more lol I can walk for about 10 mins before I get sore n
need a seat. I get sharpe like stabbing pains in my left side which is awful and the swellings on my leg hospital have told me to try aqua fit as it be easier on me n I struggle with that all the older women in their 60s make me look bad but I do what I can n star jumps I do on my right leg to look like in still doing it! But I come home n sleep after that for at least an hour or if I’m too sore my parents pick my daughter up from school for me

I can't star jump, I have to step them out! You are doing amazingly! I can't wait for you to have your appointments so it helps with the pain. I'm glad you have support around you too :)

Lol it’s lily when your cool n it’s too hot the children are happy n cool n that’s all that matters is we do mostly child led activities but we provide the equipment… I had a phone call off my anti coagulation team they said they’ve sent referral to my gp after speaking with specialist and I and I have to wait for an appointment for stocking fitting I’m coming off appixiban in august but I can expect to be in pain for the next x amount of years but if i notice worse swelling than usual or change in colour or bruising on my legs then im to go back for scans and back to appixiban but im not allowed to take contraceptive injection either with my history now :( (was on it due to excoriating pains with periods)

Oh no 😣 it's like you are getting it from all angels. Keeping everything crossed something from these appointments will help though!

It sounds like so much fun at your nursery, which is so lovely to hear! :) I bet they have a lot of parents wanting to sign their kids up!

It is first job I’ve felt happy in for a while bosses are nice and so are the girls I work with… I loved my last job but hated the bosses proper horrid! They rang me and said have you put in an application for us and I said not a cat in hells chance I’d work for you again! I make the job my own now and I did that job haha 😂 I’d never cut corners just change my hours round to fit in with my daughter and school runs so I’d be done for the afternoon lol 😂 everything got done just my own way lol 😂

Sounds like things are a lot more flexible for you now @kay87. Management/bosses can make such a difference to the role - positive or negative! Glad to hear you are in a better place now  :)
