Pip anxiety!

Good morning everyone.
So I applied for PIP on 6th jan for my mental health mainly. On 21st April I had a telephone assessment as I had not filled out the forms or sent anything in. I was in hospital for my mental health at the time and the nurses had to support me with the assessment also. I received a message on 8th May to say they've received my assessment report and then not long after they said they have everything they need in a letter. I then received another message on 22 May to say they have not yet made a decision..
Going forward I have called a few times to ask the progress.. I called again yesterday and she said it has been 7 weeks since they had the report and they usually go by 8 weeks, but then she said it might be that they need more information from GP, hospital etc... but i asked if it said that on my record as they had already said they have everything they need. And she said it didn't say that but that could be why its taking so long. Now I am worrying its going to take even longer. My thoughts are constantly consumed by this. I also asked for a copy of my report and it says 12 points mobility, and 8 points daily.. do they usually go from the assessment when they are awarding? Has anyone else had similar and had a good outcome? Or am I looking at even longer if I havent sent anything in, I told her I dont do paperwork because of my mental health.

The timescale is actually up to 12 weeks after the report was returned for a decision. They tell everyone up to 8 weeks.Mostly they go with the report but it has been known for them to go again it.0

Thankyou, yes they keep telling me 8 weeks but then ive heard 12 weeks is also a timescale they've given to people. Fingers crossed its a positive outcome. I cant bare not knowing. They're probably sick of me calling them. Im on 25weeks roughly since I applied for PIP so hopefully it will be soon that I hear something. Thanks for commenting0

Hope you hear something soon too @parissophia keep us in the loop as and when It's hard waiting, so if you need anything in the meantime, please ask!0

I know how you feel! I got the no decision text on Monday and now I feel like I have not been awarded PIP as everyone else seems to have got the award text after a few days. I wish I just knew either way the waiting and not knowing is really anxiety inducing!0

Not always, we've had many members on here that have waited quite a few weeks after that text. You can't assume there's no award at this point.

Thanks for your reply @poppy123456 that is the logical sensible thing to believe, now I just wish my brain would be sensible !
I have renal failure, fibromyalgia and an anticoagulant condition. I didn’t really think to appy for PIP until someone I spoke to waiting for an appointment said I should. I don’t like making a fuss and worry I’m wasting time or taking resources from someone more needy 😬 I know I struggle and after years of denying my illnesses I finally had to stop working in January from a very lucrative post in finance due to pain, exhaustion and brain fog mainly. I’m hoping PIP would help ease the burden financially at least… but due to the stress of the application I almost wish I didn’t know about it and didn’t apply 😌

Yes that not made a decision yet text was quite a while ago for me, so then I asked for my report and its a good report and says ive got the points. So im thinking I will get it however I just wish they would hurry up because I literally am just flapping there is so much things I could do with the extra money for such as a gardener, cleaner to give me an extra hand as im single mum of 3 and finding it all so hard with my mental health on top. I try my best but if I get it its just going to be so helpful to me. Hopefully it will be soon for us . Fingers crossed for you x1

@parissophia I’m sorry you have been waiting the not knowing is awful. I am also a mum to 3 so I can understand how nice it would be to have the extra money to pay for things we can no longer manage easily to allow ourselves to spend that extra time with our children. I have not been brave enough to ring the line and ask for my report which is really silly tbh as at least I would have had a slight indication of what May happen. My report was sent within 45 minutes of my assessment being done which I tried not reading into??!
really hope we and all those waiting hear back soon.0 -
