PIP and council tax reduction

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing OK.

I read about a council tax reduction if you have PIP. I can't find anything definite about it online. I did a fresh Turn2Us benefit calculation and the council tax allowance was a lot more than what I get currently.

I'm just working through the list of "other stuff" you can get if you are awarded PIP.

I tried to do a search on the forum but the search function is broken. (I've reported it).

Thanks so much
Lottie

You are correct, there is another reduction you can claim now you are in receipt of PIP. Each council has a different CTR system so it's hard to advise exactly, give them a ring and notify them (they should be able to backdate too).

There's a disabled band reduction that maybe possible to claim. https://www.gov.uk/council-tax/discounts-for-disabled-people

Thank you BG and Poppy. I've asked the local council to look at it for me (as well as all the other stuff!)

Thank you @L_Volunteer for checking in.  I notified the council benefits team but not heard anything back yet. They also have my claim for a discretionary housing payment and it's taken 8 weeks so far. Is that reasonable? I don't think it is but maybe understandable to a certain extent.
