Hi, I had my PIP review today. The woman who did my review went through some questions with me and then told me at the end of the call that she would not be changing my award, and that it will stay as it is.

She said it would take around a week for the letter to come out. I am just wondering if to believe her or not.

The person that did the assessment should not have said anything to you because it’s not their job to do that. They will write the report and return it to DWP, which will be their opinion based on everything you sent and what you said during the assessment. It’s a recommendation only.

From there a decision maker will look at that, including any other evidence you sent and then make a decision. Once the report is returned a decision can take anything up to about 12 weeks.

The person who did my review was direct from the PIP people. She rang me up out of the blue and said I am doing your review. Four days later after her telling me not to worry she will not be changing my award, i got a letter confirming what she said. Because i suffer from anxiety, i was worried about doing a face to facce, so for me to do it over the phone was so much better. i was so worried about my review, but i am glad it is over. They said that it was an easy review to do because of all the supporting evidence from the doctors.

Great news. Looking at what I advised I never did say it was “normal” at all.

When you said you had your review I thought you were referring to your assessment from the HCP.

Sounds like it was a decision maker that you actually spoke to. Had you said that I would have advised that it’s likely a paper based assessment you’ve had.

I can only advise based on the information you gave.

I am chilled but thanks. I wasn’t being rude at all and I’m sorry you thought that.

Poppy, can I ask why you think this happened. It was out of the blue, no letter or anything about getting a phone call. I am relieved but it was far from normal. Just also a quick note that I noticed on the award letter, is that the mobilty part, it has gone up from 14 to 16 to get full mobility which is very strange.

Sorry, for thinking you were sounding rude but ti did come across like that. Have a nice day

No rudeness was intended at all. I was straight to the point but not rude. It’s very difficult to read any such tone through text speak.

When you have a review your file is sent to the decision maker first. From there they will look at your claim and decide if a decision can be made without having to send everything to the health assessment providers. Before making their decision sometimes they may need to ring you to ask you some questions. When they do this they don’t send out appointment times. They randomly ring.

Although your points increased for mobility from 14 to 16, it’s still Enhanced mobility because you only need 12 points for this.
