Carers allowance and Tax

Hi i have read somewhere that you need to tell the tax office if you getting carers allowance, is this right? I work part time (12hrs) so dont pay tax as im way under the limit, i do not get any other benefits, do i still need to tell them? TIA

Carers allowance is taxable income. If it takes you over your personal allowance £12,570/year then you'll need to pay tax. I would say that it's very unlikely this would take you above that amount.

Thats my thinking too but i wanted to make sure, didnt want to get into trouble, think it could be to do with if you get tax credits, which i dont.0
