PIP Video Review Advice Needed

Good afternoon everyone

My wife has just had a nice letter from Capita today regarding her PIP review, we sent the review forms back in October 2022 so its been a long time coming

They have requested a Video Call something my Partner really is not happy about doing due to the anxiety issues along with everything else

I have also been told that we can't record the meeting as its a video call and its not allowed, can anyone confirm if this is true please ?

The reason I'm asking is because even though she got full enhanced on both parts from her original application in 2020 the lady that came to the house lied about a number of different things which we were not happy about and we did not record the meeting

For that reason we always said we would want the next meetings recorded to stop. it happening again

Would anyone know if we are allowed to change the video meeting to either a phone call so that we can record it or even another home visit like last time ?

Any help would be great thank you

Your wife can ring the number on the letter to ask for a telephone assessment instead of a video one. You can also ask for them to record it for you. Or you can record it yourself using your mobile, if you have one. You will need to tell them that you're recording it.

They don't do home assessments anymore. Phone assessments replaced them.

Just a quick update to help others in the future I called the PIP helpline number this morning and got straight through which was a nice surprise. The lady understood my issues after I explained everything and changed the video meeting to a phone call. She also has requested that's its recorded which is fantastic

You should have rang the health assessment providers to change the assessment and not the PIP helpline. I'm not sure how the helpline could have changed the appointment for you because the assessments are nothing to do with DWP.

I rang the number on the appointment letter 0808 178 8114 It shows capita so my mistake saying it was the helpline

Ah yes, that's good.  I know the call centre helpline very often don't know what they are saying or doing so wanted to make sure it's correct.

Morning everyone Just a little update my wife has just come off her PIP phone Review assessment after 2 hours :(

I seriously can't understand why it took so long its really taken it out of her and was a horrible experience. The women went into absolutely everything it was actually worse than the original first assessment she had a few years ago.

Would this be because it was recorded this time and everything has to be done by the book this time instead of them missing critical points out like last time ?

I also tried to talk a few times to help my wife like reading out her medication list etc and was instantly told I couldn't help.

Now advised it can take 8 weeks for a answer

Do I need to do anything else now in the meantime ?

    Hello wenglish1984
It is not unknown for an assessment to last for that length of time.
The length of time of an assessment is dependent on the amount of personal written anacdotal evidence is included with the PIP2 Questionnaire form (or Review form which is basically the same as a PIP2 Form) So if you put very little on the Review form then the assessment would take longer to complete because the assessor would need to know how the Claimants condition impacts there ability to complete the 12 PIP activities that apply to them reliably.
It is advised to treat a PIP Review form like you would do a PIP2 Questionnaire form. Include as much detailed personal anacdotal evidence as possible on why you cannot do the PIP activities Relaibly (safely, repeatedly, in a timely manor or to an acceptable standard) according the the activities descriptors. The more relevent written personal anacdotal evidence that is included on the forms the shorter the assessment should be and it there is enough provided for the assessor it could mean a paper based assessment could be completed.
I hope all works out well for your wife. Please keep us updated.

Very much like the information given to me by AgeUK when the AR2 review forms are sent out for those with the 10 year awards. They suggested that as the form doesn't give much option to put anything in you should use separate paper. Highly dangerous I was told, to just tick the 'no change' box.
Some agree and some disagree with this but I think that you owe it to yourself to make sure that you receive the fair and correct result.

The AR1 form is totally different to the AR2.  i'm still not convinced that treating them as a new claim is the right way to go. As no one has yet been through the light touch review we won't know anything further for while yet.

As I have said some will and some wont agree with the advice I obtained.
I'm going to wait to see what the various other websites - CAB etc etc say.
