ESA question regarding voluntary work

I have found a voluntary job in an effort to get myself back to the work place. Two hours a week volunteering in a library. Is it required that I declare this to the dwp? I am in receipt of ESA. I imagine it's a requirement. I do also wonder if this might trigger another assessment. thank you

Yes, you must tell them you're working, even when volunteering. https://www.gov.uk/employment-support-allowance/working-while-you-claim Although it's voluntary, if the work you do contradicts the reasons why you're claiming ESA then it can go against you at your next review.

Sounds like a good position @Heartman. Are you looking forward to starting?0

I've struggled to hold down work in the past, i hope this time it will be different.0

Keeping everything crossed for you @Heartman Please let us know how you get on!0

ok, I've done the right thing and sent off the correct forms. I just hope that i'm not called in for another assessment because the last one was an absolute nightmare. Please folks, reassure me that i've done the right thing.0

There's lots of people that work while claiming ESA, whether it's paid or unpaid. It won't be possible for anyone to be able to tell you whether the work you do contradicts the reasons why you're claiming ESA because we don't know anything about your conditions and how they affect you.
