Motability points

Hi
i am absolutely furious with my husband already so I don’t need any further judgement but he has managed to get two speeding tickets worth 6 points this month. Prior to this he has had a full clean license for 30 years!
He is in the process of accepting them but I was wondering if this will mean my sons motsbility car will be revoked ( he is the only named driver)
I’d be so grateful for any help

6 points isn't a ban so he maybe ok but only they can tell him for certain whether they will continue to insure him. He will need to report this to RSA motability when the points are added to his license. https://www.motability.co.uk/get-support/faqs/driver-has-points-or-been-disqualified/

Thanks Poppy- I’m so upset he’s had a clean license up until now. I have told them about 3 points and just waiting for the penalty notice for the other 3

You’re welcome. These things happen. Was he offered a speed awareness course?

He wasn’t last time as he was 1mph over. Do you know for reference how many points motability will allow?

I have no idea I’m afraid. I can’t find any information on that. They will tell you when you ring them.

I called them today but as the pints aren’t appearing via DVLA yet they can’t give me a definitive answer. Although he did say I’d be unlikely to lose the car for speeding unless it was a disqualification

My wife clocked 3 points for speeding AND was offered the speed awareness course. She refused the offer as she, in her own words, was not going to have anybody tell her how to drive.
She had the 3 points put on her license and my insurance went up by 60% for the next 4 years because of them. She is a nominated driver for my motability car but I will not allow her any where near it.
My wife since will not drive and hasn't done so for over 3 years.

whydid you not take her name off as nominated driver if she has not driven it for 3 years 60% savings over 4 years it would seem a logical thing to do

Why? because If I am ill and need to go to hospital when the buses aren't running I need someone to get me there. Thankfully I have managed to get there during the day on buses

You said you won't allow her anywhere near your mobility car...

i think 3 points for speeding should be around a 5 to 10% increase in insurance i would save your bus fare and get your insurance broker to take you in his car your helping him pay for

At 3am and needing to go to hospital asap, I would have no choice.
Used to call 999 for an ambulance but now with the waiting times being up to an hour I have no other options

I don't use and never have had a broker I always used to insure my cars through LV as I get a 10% discount.
