Morning everyone
I put in a pip claim and wasn’t able to fill in the form on time so I got a two week extension.
I put in a pip claim and wasn’t able to fill in the form on time so I got a two week extension.
I still wasn’t able to fill in the form and called them up a few days before to say I couldn’t fill in the form and could they just cancel my claim.
The person I spoke to said the claim would be cancelled anyway if I didn’t send the form back on time, and I could apply again in the future, so I thought that was the end of it .
So I have now received a text from DWP saying they haven’t received my form and they would just send my claim to a HCP to see if I needed an assessment.
Im finding everything really difficult and just need to be left alone , I’ve been emotional all morning. Im just feeling I can’t cope with anything atm, I have have so much going on and I'm getting really overwhelmed with everything. Why have they done this to me?
Sorry I’m just really stressed with everything in life atm .

In some cases DWP can use their own discretion to continue with your claim anyway if you don’t return the form. I’ve seen it happen many times. It means there’s a marker in your file saying extra support maybe needed. This was explained in your other thread here https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/108089/pip#latest
If you still wish to cancel the claim then you can ring them again and tell them that you do not want to continue with the claim. I totally understand the stress all of this causes but if you can continue and you’re awarded it will help financially.0 -

Surely they’ll have no idea about anything ( form / evidence etc ) so actually it makes it more difficult if you’ve been referred without a form because you haven’t had a chance to explain anything on paper .0 -
Yes they won’t have anything to refer to because you’ve not sent any information. Do you claim any other benefits such as ESA or UC and been through the work capability assessment? If so they have been known to use information for those. It has been known for members here to be awarded in situations like yourself, I’ve seen it happen many times here.0

Yes, I’ve recently been awarded LCWRA , it was paper based. Will DWP send my UC50 to HCP for a PIP assessment? Or will a HCP do an assessment without anything and then DWP will make a decision based on my UC50 claim and report from HCP?0

@leftagesago I'm so sorry you have been so stressed with it all. Can I ask, do you have support around you?0

They don't automatically do that but sometimes they will look at that information. This is very likely why they decided to proceed without the form being returned. You may still need an assessment though because most people have them. Paper based assessments are possible but rare.

Potentially just your name, address and NI number. You can of course send some evidence to support your claim but i would send it to the health assessment providers and not to DWP.
