Is this normal protocol at hospital?

Thank you for allowing me to join. I have a question Am looking for some advice. I was recently hospitalized for a four day infusion treatment. As I was waiting for them to start the infusions I was told to get into the hospital bed. I transferred but was a little confused about why I needed to be in bed. I was still in my street clothes, but I complied. After I transferred the nurse moved my chair several feet away. I asked her to put it back so I could use the restroom as needed. She turned on the bed alarm and left the room
It didn’t end well but I won’t go into all of that. But I have to wonder if this is normal for a hospital to do. I can’t seem to get past it and don’t think I would seek medical care if that is protocol.
Thanks. Allison

It's great to have you with us @allison57 but I'm sorry your recent hospital visit was so difficult.
Hospitals often have their own protocols and procedures, and it's possible that the actions taken by the nurse were based on safety measures or specific guidelines. I visited a family member in hospital recently and they moved everything from beside the beds for safety and access but even if that were the case, they should have spoken to you about it and worked out an alternative that worked for you too.
Have you thought about reaching out to PALS (Patient Advice and Liason Service)? They should have one in every hospital and they've be able to let you know whether it is protocol and what alternatives could be offered for you.
Your well-being and peace of mind are important, and seeking clarity about your experience might help you make informed decisions about your future care.0
