Hi my name is Debs and in 2018 just before covid19 I requested a statement from DWP debt management. Gobsmacked is an understatement when it read.... opening balance £2,816.19 dated 01/07/2005.
My question is do you know if they are allowed to request overpayments which was due to a DWP error not my fault. It was at the time when income support paid you for your children and then child tax credits can into force.
Any advice what i should do please??

It will depend on why it was their fault. Overpayments that are an offical error do not need to be paid back. Difficult to advise without further information. It would be advised to get some expert advice from an agency near you.
