Hi everybody, has anybody who is disabled unable to complete the PPL pilots license? I am disabled and it's something I was looking to do in the future but wondered if anyone had achieved this? I'm currently not very mobile so it's not very urgent but would be interested to know if anyone has managed to get their PPL. Thanks for reading. Have a great weekend everyone. Kind regards, Andrew

Hi @andrewkuk. Thank you for reaching out to us. Just out of curiosity, is there a particular reason you are wondering if anyone had achieved this? For example, are you wondering if it is achievable for you or are you just hoping to hear other people's success stories more successful? I am just trying to hear you as clearly as possible. Hope you also have a great weekend

It's an interesting question, I don't know the exact answer but I do know there's a medical assessment to get a PPL and the medical assessment is based off the DVLA's Fitness to Drive Assessment which I will link in this post Assessing fitness to drive – a guide for medical professionals (publishing.service.gov.uk)
I hope that brings you a step closer to answering this!0 -
Hi - Thanks for the replies. It was something I was looking to do in the future if my last surgery turn out to be successful enough for me to be a bit more mobile. I'm trying to set a goal to aim towards as it help keep a positive attitude. I just wondered if anyone in here had done flight training? Have a great weekend everyone0

Have a great weekend everyonehi @andrewkuk i dont know if this is of any interest but i used to follow a couple of other pysicaly disabled people online who i think coud probably fly planes better than actual pilots going by all the hours theyve put in-they had made extremely realistic cockpit rigs with a gaming PC set up, and deluxe version of microsoft flight simulator. i know its not the same thing as getting a licence but for some people it probably gets them more adicted than actual flying lol.ive never done flight training but i have thought about doing racing with speed of sight (a charity that enables people with all disabilitys and abilitys to race modified cars on a track.unfortunatly no lambos).1
