PIP Video Assessment

Hi everyone, just received a message that I've been booked in for a video consultation for my PIP assessment in early September.

I suffer from severe epilepsy. Has anyone recently had a video assessment? I don't know what to expect. I will be taking the call on my own. Will they use that against me? Also just generally what to expect from a video call? I suppose it's better for me than a phone call, as they might be able to catch twitching/jerking on video as they happen pretty much every hour, although I'm quite nervous I might have to stop mid-call.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi @myfinerys, I'm so sorry this got missed. It can be really tough preparing for an assessment, especially if something like video calling is not what you expect or you aren't used to.

You mention it's in early September so I know there's a good chance it's already happened but I'm going to signpost some advice anyway. If it has happened please let us know how you got on!

It is entirely fine to take the call on your own, that won't be held against you. While it's often helpful to have someone there as support it's not a negative to take the call yourself.

Citizen's advice have a good section about preparing for PIP Assessments.
