LCWRA payment

Hi there, new here,
I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of when we’d get my LCWRA payment? Ty!
I started handing in sick notes 10/02/23 (note was dated from jan 30th)
Got told I needed to do the WCA form on 12/04/23. After reciving it I sent it off on 10/05/23, had my assessment 12/07/23 and got a note on my uc account saying I was awarded LCWRA on 31/07/23,
I stopped handing in sick notes when I sent off the forms so I’m not sure if that doesn’t go in my favour here? They stopped asking for them.
Trying to work out when my 3 months starts and ends. Assessment period Is from the 2nd to 1st of each month.
Many thanks!

Hi @minchin42 - & welcome to the community. It's normally 3 full months after you reported your health condition or supplied your first fit note, so your relevant assessment periods would have been March-April, April-May & May-Jun, with payment starting in the assessment period Jun -July & payment therefore on the 9th July.
However you are supposed to hand in continuous sick notes until you get a decision on your WCA. A decision maker will therefore have to literally 'decide' in your case if any backpay is indeed due.

Thanks for getting back to me, we had a note on the UC page telling us the 3 months won’t start till the assessment period after my health assessment on July 12th? Surely that’s not right as at the very least I handed in plenty of evidence when I handed the forms in in may?

You said you stopped sending fit notes when you returned the form saying you weren't asked to provide anything further. Usually you need to continue to send the fit notes without any gaps until the decision is made on your WCA. Gaps can affect when the extra money is paid from.

I don't understand why you weren't sent reminders to provide another fit note before your last one was due to expire. Usually if you "report a change of circumstanes and then click health condition" it then prompts you to provide a fit note. This then means you'll receive reminders.

You can certainly ask for it to start from when you provided your first fit note 10/02/2023 and it will be down to a decision maker to make the final decision. With your gap in the fit note i would expect the waiting period to start from the assessment period in which the decision was made.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

I don’t expect to get it from feb, but surely given the fact I handed in evidence in may along with the forms they gave me, including fit notes and further evidence, it should Atleast be from then (may) and not when I had the Assessment in July?

Gaps in fit notes can affect when the extra money is paid from. I'm afraid it will be down to a decision maker to make the final decision. All you can do is ask and explain to them that no further fit notes were asked for after X date.
