Hello, wondering if anyone can help me understand when I will begin to be paid the additional LCWRA part of my claim.
Gave my first fit note 1st June 2023, have been giving consecutive fit notes since with no gaps, got awarded LCWRA on 11th Sept 2023. I am normally paid my universal credit on the 27th of each month.
Can anyone help me understand when I'll get the additional LCWRA financial help? The 3 month assessment period confuses me.
Thank you.

Hi @katie961 - there are 3 full months, with payment for the LCWRA element being payable in the 4th month. From what you've said you're due this from 27 Sept. Whether you'll get this added then, I don't know as you've only just had a decision. If not, then on the 27Oct you'll also be due a months backpay.

@chiarieds thanks so much, I was confused because my September payment is based on my aug 23 - sept 23 income, and I only got the decision on 11th sept, although that's for universal credit not sure if it's seperate. It's all so confusing haha0

Do the fit notes really matter because my doctor left me a 3 day gap despite telling her and my medical records on pc in front of her 🤔0
-
@Blitzgreen my work coach told me to try and make sure the fit notes have no gaps, but never explained to me why, sorry1

My first fit note was June 7th upto August 3rd and then 7th of August onwards. Because my doctor couldn't remember and I confirmed I needed the 4th.
If the start of my medical proof starts August 7th that's 2 months I miss out on I will be furious.
I've only just recently complained of my doctor. Pip requested information about me my doctor literally wrote one of my diagnosed illnesses and my medication for it then N/A for everything else, not one descriptive word for how it affects me.
I usually get uc on 20th of the month so will will see if I get it Oct 20th or December 20th I guess.2 -
Hi I'm not sure if I'm in the right section but I'm new to the group 😊 I just needed a little advice please. I have just (on the 14 th) won my tribunal to get lwcra which is such a relief. I started supplying my fit notes back in November 2021 as and when they asked for them do I get money backdated? Thanks in advance 😊0

Hi @Lisha1234567 - welcome to the community, & congratulations on your tribunal win! If you have provided continuous fit notes, & you don't live with a partner who is already receiving the LCWRA element, then you will be owed money once the DWP recalculate this.

Thank you for replying so quickly 😊 & for the congratulations it really was a massive weight lifted despite how stressful the who process was.2

I received this letter in my journal after applying to go to tribunal after being knocked back from a MR
They looked at the decision one last time and decided to award me lcwra
It states here in the letter that I am entitle to LCWRA from 28th of Dec 2022 does this mean I am guaranteed to get backpay from this date?
I know I have some small gaps of up to two weeks during this time will they effect my back pay? My fit notes probably cover 80-90% of the timeframe
Any help or advice would be appreciated
Thank you

@bburtgarnett91Great news that your decision has been revised, LCWRA has a 3 month waiting period so it won't exactly be payable from that date. As you have gaps, even small, it will be down to a Decision Maker whether or not to allow the back payment, I'm sorry to say that it may not be payable until your next assessment period with the missing fit notes. Keep an eye on your journal for any further communication.0

The 3 day gap in my fit notes didn't matter it seems. Today the day before my usual pay date I got £81.96 from dwp. Not sure how it's that amount is that a 6 days payment?0

Just for clarity, bburtgarnett91's discussion thread is here Lcwra back pay — Scope | Disability forum. We should try to avoid discussing multiple people's situations in one discussion as it can cause confusion.0

Hi, I wonder if someone could help. Following my MR in June 2023 I was awarded lcwra from 2nd Oct 2022 following a 3 month relevant period.
My payments increased in July 2023 so there is a gap in payments.
Does anybody know how long I have to wait for back payments?
My fit notes were all submitted and they told me in Oct 22 I no longer had to submit them though I still have copies covering all dates upto current date.
I asked on my journal at the begining of September 23 but had no reply.
Should I ask again to give them a prompt or does it normally take 3 months to work out back pay?
Thanks

You don't get back pay, the first 3 months are unpaid. I know it really sucks that effectively you miss out on what should be nearly £1200. I guess just another way of deterring money instead people recover with a couple of months.0

It's known as the waiting period or "assessment period" for ESA claimants. The rules have always been the same even for ESA. I also had to wait for the extra money to be paid when i was placed into the Support Group 10 years ago.

ThanksI would have expected you to have received what is owed by now as the MR decison was made back in June. Put a message on your journal under the payment section and ask about the money that's owed. Can i just check what date exactly you reported your health condition/provided your first fit note? Did you also continue to send fit notes without any gaps until the original decision was made? (not the MR decision)0 -
Hi poppy123456
I first reported my condition at the end of march 2022 but didnt submit my first fit note until June 7th 2022.
I had a WCA and the outcome was lcw on Oct 7th 2022. In this letter they said no need to submit any more fit notes. So I stopped sending fit notes following their instruction although I still have all fit notes right up to today.
I challenged through MR and they awarded lcwra on 27th June 2023. My first new pay with lcwra element was 8th July.
The MR letter from them states I will be awarded lcwra from Oct 2nd 2022 but I'm still awaiting back pay.
I wrote a note on my journal on 1st Sept 2023 asking about back pay and have had no reply.

@kjd1972 yes, you should have received what they owe you way before now, it's not acceptable that they still haven't sorted this! Did you put a message onto your journal under the payment section like i advised?
