Hi everyone
can someone help me please, I live in my council house with my disabled sister, we used to get council tax reduction support. They have recently stopped that and now what all the reduction money back which is over £6000. The reason is I’m not at home 24/7?? Is that a valid reason???

My sister is severely disabled, she can’t speak, she can’t watch tv or read or write, there is nothing for her to do at home, she prefers being around people so we are out during the day. How do I appeal this decision, so stressed I can’t afford the repayment
thanks in advance

Hi @miss_may - sorry I don't know much about this, but hopefully these links may help: https://www.turn2us.org.uk/get-support/information-for-your-situation/challenging-a-council-tax-support-decision/what-are-my-options please note there are further links at the bottom of the pagehttps://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/housing/council-tax/check-if-you-can-pay-less-council-tax/ again with a link to appealing the council's decision0

Hi @miss_may, I'm really sorry to hear that not only has your support been revoked but they're also asking you to pay so much back. Also, welcome to our community, I hope we can help you find the right way to resolve this.
Do you know exactly which reduction you received? The bottom link of Chiarieds posts shows a list of what kind of reductions/support you can get. I'll relink it here.
