Housing benefit & council tax reduction review form advice needed

I have received a housing benefit & council tax reduction review form, I have several conditions that cause problems with memory, confusion and difficulty understanding things, this is broadly termed as brain fog. I am finding the form hard work and confusing.
My son is a non-dependant the council want my son's payslips, also what amount he has in bank and what interest he gets from savings, they don't need any of this to make a decision as they cannot make any deductions under non-dependant rules because I receive PIP, I asked if it is a legal requirement considering the information will not have any impact on my claim, they wouldn't answer, but I was told "if you don't send payslips and fill in the details you claim will be stopped".
At no time would they acknowledge that because I get PIP, they cannot deduct from HB. My son is also autistic, and this request has triggered him, he really is not happy at all. They were told my son is autistic, they were not interested that this would distress him.
Does anyone know if they have the right to my son's details since the information is irrelevant, and do they need to make reasonable adjustments for his disability ?
Any advice is appreciated.

When my daughter left full time education she claimed Universal Credit. She has a health condition that means she's unable to work.I also claim ESA, PIP, which includes daily living (so no non dependant deductions) and housing benefit as well as CTR. When i reported the changes to my LA they wanted a copy of the first statement for her UC claim. The reason they ask is so that they have the details for their records. Perfectly normal.0

Thanks for the reply, yes he does get PIP, and it's just been awarded for another 3 years after a review he was awarded DLA before moving to PIP at 16. Unfortunately, providing the information is difficult he hardly ever talks he is a very quiet person and I have no idea what he earns, his wages and savings are not part of the HB calculations so as he said why should he provide private details. I just want to know if they have a right to his private finances when it makes no difference to deductions.

Thanks for the reply. I receive enhanced care and mobility with a maximum award length, so as you said no deductions. In the last review, I just called the council and said I receive PIP and so does my son the person said that's fine just send proof of PIP, and they will not be any deductions, no wage slips or son's bank details had to be sent.
