Electric Wheelchair assessment

I have been told by my local council that any powered chair that I am lent by the wheelchair suppliers cannot be carried in any vehicle (buses included)......
This limits me to the local store - which appears to be wrong to me
The idea of getting a wheelchair was to get me out of the house (I have been nowhere for 4 years)
Any comments / suggestions ?

Do they say why? It seems surprising. Is it bariatric? Is it unusual such as a stand up or a lie flat?0

Still waiting for the actual assessment
But I was told of the rules by an OT
Why should my BMI be an issue?0
