One line at a time spooky story game

Halloween is coming up, so let's get warmed up for the spooky season by writing a story together.
It can be serious, silly, scary or funny and can go in whatever direction you want it to. The only catch is that each person can only write one sentence at a time. And try not to go too political with it, politics is already scary enough!
So for example, if I wrote: Long, long ago, in a dense woodland far away from civilisation, there lived a grumpy old witch named Mrs. Broom.
The next person would continue: Mrs. Broom lived so far away from the nearest town that she was forced to survive on roasted toads and slimy eels, but she was getting hungry for something more...
And the next person would continue on from there.
The stories can be as long or short as you like. As long as you can finish it in one sentence, you can end a story at any time. You can then start a new one and see where it goes!
Let's see what you can come up with!
I'll start with some pure stereotypical spookiness:
It was a dark and stormy night when I saw it for the first time, it's deep dark eyes staring at me through the window...
Over to you!

my dreams of being rich, the melted money felt disturbingly gloopy in my mouth so I spat it out and saw the liquid began moving itself across the floor0
-
I stared, unable to move or believe what I was looking at, I took my phone to take a photo, but, there was no picture. It was blank. The liquid was orange with steam coming from it. Now it was multiplying into0
