Hi
I'm Kate. I’ve joined Scope to make friends who understand the daily challenges similar to mine. I am in a choir and go to the gym but struggle to find people who understand what it’s like to be a wheelchair user with a visual impairment and poor hearing.
I don’t drive and I find it very difficult to get lifts if I need them. If I ask in social groups I am just ignored, when I think ‘No’ is a fine answer. I’m convinced people don’t like to say No and think it is kinder to ignore me. Anyone else find this frustrating?
I’d love to make friends on here to laugh, cry, moan or just be there.

Hiya @lemonwatermelon95 and a big welcome to the community from me!
I can totally understand your frustration there, 'no' seems to be such a dirty word, but it can be all that's needed sometimes.
If you're looking just to have a chat with people, I highly recommend checking out our Coffee Lounge, that's where all the laid back chats happen.
So what type of choir do you sing in? I'd love to hear more about it.0 -
Hello @lemonwatermelon95
Welcome to the community! Love the username!
I understand that frustration. It's also the rudeness that comes from being ignored. I hope you make some great friends here and we can be a support for you0 -
@Albus_ScopeJust learning how to navigate this site. I’m not really a forum type person, old fashioned type of chats on the phone or in person are more my style.I’m in a local choir singing contemporary style songs from the 60’s to modern day with Adele. Our leader does all the arrangements in four or five parts. There are eight choirs in our local area, about 400 people all together. I enjoy performing but struggle to get to many performances as I don’t have transport easily available. I do what I can though.I’ll try the Coffee Lounge, sounds good.1
