PIP review text

Hi - I wonder if anyone can offer advise and assurance. I woke up this morning to a text from DWP to say the review of your PIP has started and you will receive a review form in the next two weeks. I find the whole process very daunting and makes my anxiety Sky high.

Has anyone recently gone through a PIP review?

Is it the same as the original application form or different one as it's a review?

My PIP was extended until September 2024 but obviously they wish to review my PIP now.

Thanks in advance. Andrew

Just been through it myself. You will receive a form asking if anything has changed which you have to fill in and return within a specified time period.

I recommend you treat this form exactly the same as you did your initial claim and make sure you tell them exactly how you are effected against each of the descriptors even if nothing has changed because there's no guarantee the assessor has access to your original claim forms.

My review was pretty much the same as my initial claim with a telephone assessment followed by the inevitable wait for them to make a decision and get back to me with the decision.

From filling in my form to getting my decision took 11 months but obviously times vary for everyone.

Hope this helps and good luck with your review

Thank you for your advice. Hopefully it won't be too stressful! I'm hoping to try and get my award for a longer time as my conditions are worse and not going to improve in the future.

i  had a pip review in May and the woman that did my assessment decided there was nothing wrong with me and  decided to give me 0 points. I was given 8 points daily living last time! My pip was stopped 17th May and I have appealed against it but as yet haven't heard anything!

I have recently sent my review form back, I wrote that my condition is ongoing and could a much longer award be considered. Last award was from 2021-2024

Can I ask if they gave you a reason for no reward this time?
Did you put no change on your forms or did you give lots of information?

As BrettW says, you need to complete this form as if it was an initial claim form. As you'll see there's not much room on the form, but you can always add extra pages at the end indicating which question it's a continuation from. Please ensure you put your name & National Insurance number on each of these pages.
Have a look again at the activities/descriptors that are looked at with PIP:  https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/asset-library/personal-independence-payment-descriptors-and-scores-april-2023.pdf
Try & give a couple of recent, detailed examples as to the difficulty you face for each applicable descriptor, i.e. when did it happen, where, what happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity?
Say if you can do each applicable activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as one would reasonably expect, or if it takes you much longer than someone without a disability. See this mentioned at the end of the link above.
You can always ring the PIP enquiry line (try 9am if you can) & ask for an extension, & you'll be given another 2 weeks automatically. It's 0800 121 4433. Hoping this helps.
