Hi all, I am just fine tuning my Mandatory Reconsideration and regarding the section on Engaging with others face to face I was denied points on the basis of 'seeming ok on telephone assessment" etc. I had, in my form, stated clearly, along with real life examples, why I need encouragement and prompting to do this 'reliably'. It was disputed by Decision Maker and HCP on basis of stable MH meds, no specialist input , and no input to manage fatigue, all of which I am fairly confident I can challenge with new evidence. BUT, I have seen somewhere, some info about engaging face to face should not be based on functional engagement such as at work, with doctors, and so on. For the life of me I cannot find it!! Have scoured the DWP PiP assessment guides.
Anyone know where I can find it? As I want to make my MR as strong as possible and quote this as part of my challenge

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me find this info!

I'd agree, that being able to talk about your difficulties to someone like a Health Care Professional in your PIP assessment (which you are well versed in) is absolutely not the same as mixing with others face to face. I'll try to see if I can find more on this tomorrow......
Chiarieds, did you ever manage to find anything on this? this was off one of my older posts..

Hi  - is this what you mean as an example? This from the Benefits & Work guide about PIP. I only have the June 2018 version of this, which says,

    ''Engagement is needed
An upper tribunal judge has ruled that ‘isolated and specific’ examples of being able to interact with other people, such as being able to talk to the health professional at medical assessment or to staff in a local shop you go to regularly are not enough to prevent you scoring points. In this case the claimant went to the pub and a chip shop every day, but said she avoided any engagement with other people and would move away if anyone stood next to her. She was able to respond to the PIP heath professional’s questions without prompting and had adequate eye contact and rapport.
The judge held that simply going to the pub and the chip shop or responding to questions from a health professional was not evidence that the claimant engaged socially with other people or would be able to engage with people she did not know well.''

That might be it, it is certainly similar!  I 'll have a think about whether to bother including something along those lines as my own opinion as related to reliability criteria in my MR for that activity, thankyou
