Hi everyone and good morning ive been on pip for near 4 years now. I received a pip reassessment form around 6 months ago, I filled it out and sent it back, this morning I've received a text stating this

' Your PIP review is complete. You should receive your decision letter in 2 weeks. Once you receive your letter, contact us if you have any questions. Do not call before you get the letter as we will not be able to tell you the decision. Please remember to contact us if your circumstances change.

I didn't do no reassessment medical or appointments' is this normal for them to make an decision without an appointment and should I be worried?

You’ve had what’s known as a paper based assessment. This is when they have enough of information to make a decision without the need for an assessment. In my opinion, that’s not a bad thing.

Although the text advises you not to ring them, you can ring PIP at anytime and ask them what the decision is and they will tell you.

Thank you for the quick reply, I tryed calling them and got someone who said they cant give that information over the phone. But I did call back to change over bank details and asked that new person and they confirmed I'm awarded the same claim until November 2029 yay 😃  appreciate the fast response and hope you have a great day

Hello, I am not sure if this is the right place to put my query because I have never used this forum before so I am sorry if I am doing it wrong. I applied for PIP mid May of 2023, and heard absolutely nothing for a while. I live with quite disabling autism and other mental conditions so mine was more about the "daily living" component (if that is relevant), but the other day I got a letter asking me to send off ID and stuff like that, which I did, and this morning I recieved two messages, four minutes apart, as follows:

Thanks for claiming Personal Independence Payment. We will shortly send you a ‘How your disability affects you’ form. You’ll need to fill it in carefully and return it to us so we can see if we can award you PIP.

    And then

We have not received your ‘How your disability affects you’ form. We have sent your PIP claim to a Health Professional before we can make our decision. They will contact you if you need an assessment. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change.

What does this mean? Have I done something wrong? And if I haven't, will I recieve PIP, and if so, when?

@ilovemycat1849 You say you applied for PIP in May. Just for clarification here, did you not receive anything in the post or by email from then until the other day? Did you not phone PIP for an update in all them months? I'm sorry for the questions but I am a little concerned here, especially as they have only recently asked for proof of ID.

Yes, I heard nothing until recently. I'm not quite sure the date I recieved the letter asking for ID but I know that it had to be sent by the 23rd December or else my PIP claim would be revoked. I'm not too fussed about the time it has taken so far as from looking on other forums, I am aware that there is a lot of backlog. I did phone PIP a few weeks ago asking for an update, but after being left on hold for forty five minutes I was told there was nothing they could do to inform me of my PIP claim because it hadn't actually been accepted at that point (I hope that makes sense!!).

Absolutely, thanks for that. In this situation you need to phone PIP quite urgently (probably tomorrow straight at 9am will be best to avoid the wait). It may be the case that a venerable marker has been placed on your application which means they don't exactly need the form to proceed anyway but please come back and let us know how you get on when you do manage to phone for further advice.

Whats a venerable marker? And why is it a bad thing? Sorry, I don't know much about the application as I am only seventeen :')

No worries, mis-spelt vulnerable so apologies. When a claimant applies for PIP and the call handler decides that they're vulnerable (most likely age related in this case, if applicable), a special marker will be added on to your 'file', this doesn't necessarily mean it's anything 'bad', it just simply means that certain strict procedures are more relaxed (such as sending a form back later than the deadline) and let's the Case Manager (an individual who makes a decision on your claim) know that you may have difficulties engaging with the standard process. It doesn't mean you will be exempt from having an assessment too, for further information. A marker can be added at any time.

Did you manage to contact PIP today for an update?
