Regifting unwanted presents - yay or nay? [Day 8]

Most of us like getting gifts from loved ones this time of year, but what happens when you get a gift that you know you wont use, or someone gives you something that is just not your thing?
Do you think it's acceptable to wrap it back up and re-gift it to someone else for future birthdays or Christmases? Or do you grit your teeth and try to make the most of that lavender scented goat shaped soap-on-a-rope that you never thought you needed?
What are your thoughts - thrifty fun or just plain ungrateful?

I always keep the unwanted gifts, just in case one year, they may suddenly become wanted.  It has happened!  But I'm also a huge hoarder.  :D

I'm torn on the regifting aspect, I'd probably feel a bit down if I knew a friend had done that with a gift I gave them.  But I also know I'm rubbish at picking gifts, so it's probably for the best.

If it's inedible, I keep it. Any edibles, usually contain sugar, I pass them on.

I recently took a gift back myself that I bought someone several years ago and they only used a couple of times - a bread maker. We have since made over 50 loaves in 2 months and saved a lot of money and eaten much nicer bread as well.

I don't really know how to explain my emotions. I didn't really care, as these sorts of things don't bother me, but I was grateful as well as very mildly miffed that they didn't need it.

I wouldn't have spent £90 on a bread maker for myself but giving it to someone and having them give it back made it seem better value for some weirdly sort of twisted reason.
