@BrettW yes, I was quite surprised too when I drove it. They do look lovely on the outside but that’s as far as it goes for me.

Speed doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Comfort and fuel costs do!

I’m sure you’ll have much enjoyment from your new car when you do collect it! Sit back and relax with that lovely auto!!

@poppy123456 before my health issues my job was basically picking up and delivering cars all over the UK.

Of all the high end cars I drove I found BMW to be one of the most uncomfortable brands of all to drive.

Yes they didn't look too bad from the outside and the interiors were always well designed for their price they tended to lack a lot of the features and comforts of cars of other manufacturers
Yes the seats with the basic leather is too hard. I always up graded the leather amongst other add on's and extras.
The last one was a 340 3 series M sport saloon and the extras cost well over £15,000 on top of the car including the special paint option

Yes, great if you can afford those optional extras! Unfortunately, many people can't!

What would put me off, and not just the Mokka, is the time it would take to get to 60mph - over 9 seconds!!
That's like having to listen to two records on the radio. That would put the fear of God in me when trying to overtake anything.

Like i said, i really don't care about how long it takes me to get anywhere because it's never a race. I've never once heard any records that last 4.5 seconds each...

@2oldcodgers I personally find some of your comments hilarious but there is a serious point.
People are asking for advice because they need help so it's not fair of you to make ridiculous comments about top speed and engine power that is not needed by the o.p.
Please make a separate thread for your jokes and I will read it 😂

🤣🤣🤣 That is top trolling and I probably shouldn't encourage you but you made me laugh again.

The Mk1 Golf GTI was about 9 seconds 0-60.  It's really not that slow...

A completely irrelevant stat of course, as you're never overtaking from 0.  What really matters for overtakes is 30-70, and that's what you need torque for.  BHP & 0-60 figures are just for marketing, no use in the real world.  I always used to time 30-70s for a more effective real world review.

If you do want to use 0-60 to give a rough comparison (as that's all manufactures provide generally) then anything under 12 seconds is perfectly adequate for overtakes and short slip roads.  Once you start getting to 14/15 seconds or more, that's when it becomes a safety issue, particularly trying to join 70mph roads from short slip roads.

And there is the fact that most mobility car users are unlikely to have the desire or ability to possess the reflexes of a formula 1 driver

You're better off just ignoring the comments of certain people on here. They genuinely seem to be very unhappy in their lives and only comment negatively on any post they contribute to.

In all honesty the fact 2oldcodgers is using the 0-60 time as a reference for discussing overtaking tells you that he really is ill informed and clueless in his opinions on the subject. Most people don't go from a standstill to overtake and acceleration times of a car already in motion are completely different to a car that is moving from a standstill lol

The fact someone is having to pay 15K on top of the actual build price just to bring a car into the line of features / comfort of other cars tells you all you need to know about the car and the person doing it @poppy123456 :)

I think it's sensible to take comments with a big pinch of salt or maybe more than a big pinch.
If someone had £15,000 to spend on a mobility car I think they would probably expect problems with other means tested benefits.

I don’t think the £15,000 mentioned is anything to do with motability cars. 2oldcodgers was talking about other owned vehicles.

That figure was only for going from zero to 60mph.
Overtaking with say 20/15mph differential - it would take well over the 9+ secs to get in front primarily because you would not have the top end power range to do so.

I have always owned powerful cars and am having now to put up with a new CX5 2ltr petrol because Motability have got rid of the BMW, Volvo and Merc's off their list of cars to lease. The only way to get any umph out it is to take the RPM up to 5 thou before changing gear. The noise from the engine sounds like it is about to explode!

I don't actually pay that out for a car. I am entitled through my Armed Services past (veteran) The lowest discount on the gross cost of a car is 17% and the highest is 20%. Audi actually give a discount of way over those figures.
The likes of Forces Cars, Motorfinity & Griffin offer these fantastic deals
