Hi there, good to meet you all.
I am about to be made redundant, my employer is closing her business.
I am only working 6 hours per week as I am disabled, in receipt of Pips lowered rate for day and higher rate for mobility and hosing benefit. What benefit do I apply for, job seekers or universal credit? I have not paid NI contributions for several years due to my low earnings who do I contact? I am totally baffled.
Many thanks x

You won’t be able to claim New style JSA because for this you will need to have the correct NI contributions in the previous 2 tax years.

It would need to be UC that you claim. You should report your health condition, supported by a fit note. You will then be referred for a work capability assessment.

If you live with a partner you will need to claim as a couple.

When you do claim UC your housing benefit will end 2 weeks later. Help with the rent will be paid in with your UC, unless you’re living in either supported or temporary housing.

I would also advise you to wait until you receive your final earnings before starting a claim. If you don’t then your earnings will affect your first UC payment.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
