I know some people might not want to say what the most expensive thing they own but for anyone that does...
I recently paid £1300 (on monthly payments) on an electric bike and realised its my most expensive purchase ever.
Anyone else?

Probably my computer, though it's been quite a few years now I spent about 1600 on it when I built it.
There's also this very nice watch I got from my to-be father in law, it was a very sweet "you're a part of the family now" moment, we've yet to get it appraised but it's clearly an expensive watch.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

I've got a lovely gold and emerald necklace brought for me from someone who died. I rarely ware it, it's bit dressy tho for every day use. I would say it's more sentimental to me then value wise.

Same with the watch I mentioned @Sandy_123, it's a touch too much for me. Plus I'm not much of a watch-wearing fan anyway.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

I don't really ware watches either, I'm not a jewellery person over all. I like a nose stud but I lost my last gold one.

Sorry to be the thread's grouch but I don't really like the idea of this question, I find it a bit vulgar.
That said @Jimm_Scope I am a big watch nerd, I have loved watches even longer than I have loved cars, if you are willing to tell me what the watch is or even better send me a photo there is a good chance I wold be able to tell you about it. -

I have the watch my grandad was given as a 21st present in 1930, no idea of its financial value but its sentimental value is huge, the last time I wore it was at my dads funeral 4 years ago. I was also given by my dad 5 pocket watches that had been passed down over the years the oldest from 1871 and solid silver another a first world war gold watch, I have already passed these down to my grandson and even though he is only ten he's taking good care of them.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

That said I don't really have anything valuable. I tried to answer the 'oldest' thing post too but other than a few photos I don't think I've even got anything older than about 5 years. Most valuable is probably my laptop, I forget what I paid for it but see them as an investment because it used to be my livelihood (working from home) and now is my life.

@66Mustang and @Biblioklept
I did say some might not want to talk about it.
@66Mustang don't you have a thread asking the last thing people bought online, how's that so different from this question?
@noman exactly. No need to be rude. Just upsets the rhythm of my day.
Great items people -

I can empathise with thinking it a bit much, given that there are people on this community who struggle everyday. But I also understand about saying there is not a need to be negative!
So, with that in mind let's all move on, if you disagreed with Mustang I think he's received the feedback now.
The most expensive thing I've personally bought for someone else is the engagement ring for my partner. It was only £150 at the time, that was back in 2019, it's a lovely alexandrite ring on a white-gold ring. We went out together to pick it to ensure it was something she was happy with.
Here's a picture of an alexandrite gem (not the one on the ring!!). It's a really cool gem, it looks green or purple depending if the lighting is natural or artificial.
They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

I thought talking about the most expensive thing I had got for someone else might be a nice twist on the topic. In the end it doesn't matter how much it costs, but what it means to you and what proportion of your wealth it cost, not the total wealth.
Expensive isn't just a higher number, it's how much that wealth can mean to you. Though I am not religious at all, it reminds me of a passage in the bible.41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with
