Help with understanding Carers allowance and when its paid

Afternoon everyone. Within the last couple of years I become more and more dependent on my husband at work and home and my husband claimed Carers Allowance.
My husband has received payments Sept 22 - Jan 23 - June 23 - Oct 23.
Each time we receive forms we send them back and then follow up with a call. At that point we are told that its been referred to the back office and then we just wait.
We would love to get to the stage where the money was regularly paid rather than lumps every few months as this would be so much more helpful to our current situation.
The last time I rang they told us that it was due to my husbands income not being regular, we confirmed it is and they agreed we had told them this was the case but still cannot help with why we dont receive regularly.
Does anyone else have any advice ?
Becky
